Close To You at Cadogan Hall

Tickets are now on sale for ‘Close To You: Sinatra and the Hollydwood Quartet’ on Saturday 16 May 2015, 7.30pm at Cadogan Hall, London.

This reinvention of Close to You, one of the great Sinatra recordings, features an ensemble of handpicked musicians chosen for their sound and empathy for this extraordinary music.

Matt Ford appears regularly with both the John Wilson Orchestra and the BBC Big Band and was nominated for Best UK Male Vocalist at the inaugural Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Awards. The acclaimed Tippett Quartet bring to the mix their credentials as one of the UK’s most prominent chamber ensembles and a passion for the great Hollywood music of the 20th century. They are joined by leading Grammy-nominated jazz instrumentalists led by project producer Matt Skelton and Ronnie Scott’s artistic director, James Pearson. Hugely talented arranger, bandleader and trombonist Callum Au has painstakingly transcribed and adapted Nelson Riddle’s original scores.

Alongside celebrating the genius of Sinatra’s performances, the group also pays homage to the artistry of Nelson Riddle, the Hollywood String Quartet and the extraordinary studio musicians who so skilfully brought this music to life. Now, in the year of Sinatra’s centenary, the group are tremendously proud to be bringing these exquisite versions of vintage popular song to audiences for the first time in almost 60 years.

‘Where else would you hear such distinctive, timeless music, tailored with such care yet still sounding so fresh?’ (Peter Vacher, London Jazz News)

‘It’s musical gold’ (Stewart Collins)
