  • Tippett Quartet record complete Tippett Quartets for NAXOS


2007 saw the start of a two-year project to record all five of Sir Michael Tippett’s string quartets. Disc one will comprise of quartets 1, 2 and 4 and will be released in 2008. The second will be released in 2009 and will contain quartets 3 and 5.

The Tippett Quartet returns to the Wigmore Hall with an exciting programme of Beethoven op. 131 and Tippett Quartet No. 2. They will be joined by soprano Grace Davidson for the UK Premiere of “Morning”, David Braid’s haunting setting of Pablo Neruda’s poem Mañana.

  • Tippett Quartet complete Stephen Dodgson recording project for Dutton Epoch


After premiering String Quartet No. 6 at the Cheltenham International Music Festival the Tippett Quartet began a relationship with the British composer to record all nine of his quartets and other chamber music. The project started in 2006 with the 1st disc being released in 2007 (CDLX 7182) “dispatched with vigour and incisiveness” (Sunday Times). The second will be released in 2008 and the third, which allowed the quartet to collaborate with guitarist Craig Ogden, in 2009.
